If I don’t emerge from the studio within a week, send a search party!

Have you ever have you ever come home from the craft store with the realization that you just got waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many supplies? I am having one of those moments (only it is quite a bit worse than normal!)
I suggest that you brace yourself for the pictures ahead, as this is direct evidence that I must have lapsed into an insane state when Scenic Route announced a final clearance price for the remaining stock of Scenic Route brand products. For $27 (including shipping) I got all of this:

Scenic Route goodies
1) Showing the sheer volume of product as I unpack the box
2) All of the “loose” (non-kit) product
3) The Scenic Route 15 Sheet Embellishment Sticker Grab Bag ($2.99)
4) The Scenic Route Grab Bag ($2.49)
Assuming that the 90% discount is correct, you are looking at about $300 worth of product. That is an epic deal.
What can I say? There is an inner bargain hunter in me that can’t resist a GREAT deal Smile Now I just gotta figure out what to do with all of this awesome stuff. I guess I am going to have to go on a major stash diet…for like 3 years! Hey Air Force, are you listening? this would be the perfect time to send us overseas so that I don’t have so much temptation! LMAO.

I am really impressed with my purchase. All of this is such great quality, and super cute to boot! It took 12 days to get here, but I am sure that they have been swamped with orders, so I am not holding that against them. All in all I am very happy, and I will happily order from them again (well, maybe. I mean, I’ve got enough product to last me a lifetime here!)
Scenic Route still has a good selection of their Scenic Route brand left, but I’m sure at 90% off it won’t last for long. The good news is that even when their product is gone they will still have plenty of other designer’s supplies at a deep discount.

So go! enjoy!  http://store.scenicroutepaper.com

Flashmob Friday

Here is a brand spanking new Flashmob (only a week old!) that Charlotte Geary shared on facebook. For those of you who don't know who Charlotte is, she is an AMAZING photographer. I was SO excited when I found out that we were being stationed in Colorado Springs so that we could get some awesome portraits done by her, but noooooooooo she had to move all the way across the country to the DC area. Sigh

Oh well, I forgive her. It was fun seeing her in the video anyhow :)

Flashmob Friday

Another one of my favorites - this time celebrating my beloved GLEE :)

I have watched this one far too many times. I cringe to think how many of those 1,800,000ish views are actually me. But OMG, the awesome black guy tumbling in at the begining? The guy with the suit? How can you not love this flashmob?

You Are What You Eat - Engaging with Your Food. Part 2

A Farm for the Future

This is a fabulous BBC documentary that focuses on the issues that farming (especially smaller, family farms) faces, and how the "landscape," if you will, of farming will have to change in the future. It is a 5-part series, so when one video ends, the next will pick up right in it's place.

You Are What You Eat - Engaging with Your Food. Part 1

"I am trying to produce a generation of conscious eaters, who understands that what happens on their plate affects the world and themselves more than anything else they do. I just want them to understand the stakes. I'm not telling anyone what to eat, I just saying "learn about where your food comes, and then make your choice.""
-Michael Pollan

I am so thankful for this conversation that Michael Pollan and many others have been bringing up about our food system. This conversation isn't necessarily about right or wrong, but rather exploring what is working, what isn't, and what we have to look forward to in the future, and even why we have found ourselves in this system.

Over the next few months I'll be sharing some of the movies and articles that have really had an impact on my paradigm reguarding food. In no way am I telling you what to think, but I do wish everyone would watch these movies. Because a fundimental truth is that through education comes choice, and choice brings power.

The first I have to share is probably the best at introducing the topic as a whole. Food Inc is a movie and a supplemental collection of essays that explore the production of food in the US (and often the world). Unfortunately this is not a movie that is fully online (maybe one day!) but it is for sale, and I have seen it offered at Netflix (both as a DVD as well as instant stream)

I have to admit that I haven't read the book - I actually just realized that they had the supplemental volume. However I will be picking that up at my local library soon.

The Food Inc Website is a good resource for finding out more, and the Food Inc Facebook page is very active and quite a wealth of information as well.

Since yesterday was my 25th birthday I think calls for my favoritest most favorite flashmob video of all time.

So go get yourself a piece of birthday cake and help me celebrate having been on this earth for a quarter-century :)
